For Chinese people worldwide, the Lunar New Year represents a fresh beginning and a time to renew family ties and friendships. "New" is symbolic to every aspect of the festival - old and young wearing new clothes, houses are spring-cleaned and even freshly painted, and all auspicious tokens are displayed to invite the blessings of the God of Fortune.
