A picture is worth a thousand words, and on 9th February 2000 Maltapost plc issued a set of five greetings stamps which will help the  public put tit a personal touch on their correspondence. 

Everybody will agree that the new millennium is the age of high tech machinery and
computers, but behind every perfectly engineered cog and wheel and integrated circuit there is a human being, with a mind and soul harbouring an ocean of feelings.
But human feelings are not intended to be permanently locked up in the heart and brain they are meant to be shared with other human beings, to create bonds, to cement friendships, to heal wounds.

Since   not all of us are endowed with the literary skills of a Shakespeare or a Dickens or we sometimes find  it difficult to express in concrete terms what lies in the deepest recesses of the heart. These five greetings stamps will help unlock the profoundest of feelings. 
                
The stamps visually convey a multitude of messages which we may want to send, to wish happiness for a future union, or a union blest, best wishes for a new year or a new start, a birthday or a birth, a love which is beginning or as old as time itself, a friend afar or a friend close by but unreachable.
