MAZEIKIAI The village of Mazeikiai was first mentioned in 1661. After a branch line between Mazeikiai and Jelgava was built, a railway station was opened and Mazeikiai town began to grow. In 1919-1950 Mazeikiai was the centre of the region, since 1950 it has been the centre of the district.
RADVILISKIS Radviliskis has been referred to as a town since 1577. In 1687 it was granted a market privilege. The town began to grow since 1873, after the Radviliskis-Daugpilis branch line was opened and a railway station was built. In 1924 Radviliskis was granted a town right, and since 1950 it has been the centre of the district.
UKMERGE One of the oldest Lithuania's settlements. As a castle first mentioned in 1333. Ukmerge has been considered as a town since 1486. From 1528 Ukmerge was the centre of Pavietas (rural district). In 1919-1950 Ukmerge was the centre of the region, and since 1950 it has been the centre of the district.
