On 26th May, 2004 the Ministry of Communications of the Czech Republic issued a commemorative postage stamp in the denomination of CZK 6.50 dedicated to children. The stamp bears the saluting and laughing Toad, the chief character from the children's book The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Graham (in Czech, Toad's Adventures) which was first published in Czech in the 1930s with illustrations by Josef Copek. The academic painter Jindra Capek is already the fifth illustrator of this book of the adventures of the rich Toad of Toad Hall who is very kindhearted but a bit down on his luck. The stamps completed by the text FOR CHILDREN in Czech The author of the design of the issue is the illustrator of the booke ac. painter and graphic artist Jindra Capek, the engravings are the work of Pavel Kovarik The stamp, sized 30 x 23 mm was printed by the Post Printing House in Prague by rotary recess print in black combined with photogravure in yellow, red and green in printing sheets of 30 pcs. Besides stamps in sheet arrangement, philatelic booklets of 8 stamps and 2 labels showing the Toad sculling in a boat was issued. The label is printed in black in the same size as the stamp. There is 1 First Day Cover incl. commemorative cancellation the cachet of which is the engraver's transposition of a further illustration from the same book showing the Mole and the Rat, the best companions of the Toad The cover was printed by recess print from flat plates in black-brown.
