"De Trupialen" became well-known primarily for the boys choir, the puppet plays and theater performances that were held throughout the island, and also for the many educational and recreational excursions. Each stamp has a column on the left side, consisting of a theater curtain from an original fifties photograph, symbolizing the countless presentations for the Aruban and Antillean community. The orange background colors represent the colors (orange, black and white) of the local singing bird, the "Trupial", after which the group was named. The 30c stamp represents "The Trupialen Boys Choir", which has been active from 1953 to this present date. The original boys choir consisted of about fifty young boys, ranging in age 10 to 12. The design shows a partial representative of the first choir singing their popular repertoire of Papiamento and other songs. The choir is conducted by Frere Alexius, whose guiding hand symbolically represents his unfailing dedication to his pupils. The pencil drawing conserves the image taken from an original black and white photograph from the fifties. The 50c stamp design represents the original puppet theater and a sample of the many well-liked theatrical plays by "De Trupialen". These plays included adaptations of classical plays as well as local plays created by local authors such as Hubert Booi and his "Perla di Caribe". All aspects of the plays were presented in the De Veer Theater, community centers in all districts, and later even on the neighboring Dutch Antilles islands. This collagetechnique and reviews, letters and photographs of clippings of announcements by Frere Alexius through the years and conserved in a historical collection of more than sixty albums. The 100c stamp with its watercolor pencil design shows the emblems belonging to the "Trupialen" organization. The left emblem, consisting of a yellow shield and a blue capital "T", was one of the original emblems, worn by all members on shirts and jackets. This emblem was recently replaced by another, more modern design, consisting of a black and orange logo on a white shield. The logo shows the capital "T", incorporating a mask symbolizing theater and two musical notes symbolizing the singing and playing of instruments by the "Trupialen" choir, both the original all-boys choir and the contemporary mixed choir and musical ensemble. On top of this shield stands the local "Trupialen" bird, which served as the original inspiration for the naming of this organization that has become a tradition in the Aruban community. First-day cover design: This design shows a partial view of the original music score of the "Trupialen" theme song. Originally composed by Frere Laurentius, this has been the theme song of the "Trupialen" for half a century. The design is a reduced version of the original music score which still exists as part of the extensive documentation by Frere Alexius. Source of information: Mr Stan Kuiperi.
